Exceptional teaching transforms lives—but only when teachers themselves are supported, inspired, and equipped to thrive.
The Thriving Educator Institute at the Woodlands of Bruin Lake is our commitment to the people at the center of every child’s learning journey. Through immersive professional development experiences in a peaceful, restorative setting, we help educators deepen their skills, build meaningful connections, and return to the classroom reenergized.
The Thriving Educator Institute offers hands-on, research-based professional development for early childhood educators and elementary school teachers. Our flagship experience takes place at The Woodlands at Bruin Lake, a beautiful, wooded retreat space in Michigan’s Pinckney Recreation Area. These multi-day summer retreats provide the time and space for educators to reflect, recharge, and grow—both personally and professionally.
Retreat sessions feature a range of workshops led by master teachers and expert facilitators, including topics such as:
Early literacy strategies
Trauma-informed classroom practices
Culturally responsive teaching
Social connection and community building
Mindfulness, movement, and educator wellness
To support continued growth after the retreat, we offer a range of follow-up opportunities throughout the school year, including:
Follow-up workshops and check-ins
Classroom-based coaching
Opportunities for peer collaboration and idea-sharing
Continued access to expert facilitators
Educators are often asked to give everything—yet rarely given what they need most: time, tools, and meaningful support. Many work in under-resourced schools and face enormous pressure without the professional learning opportunities they deserve.
The Thriving Educator Institute was created to change that. By investing in teachers, we help build stronger classrooms and more effective schools. And by creating a community of inspired, supported educators, we multiply the impact they have on the children they serve.
